Get to know Houston photographer Taryn Melgoza
Hello friends! I’m Taryn, the owner and creative mind behind Taryn Melgoza Photography. I’m a native Texan, born and raised in the Houston area, and a Texas A&M graduate, whoop! Photography was a dream that turned into a reality when I picked up my first DSLR camera in 2009 and began photographing close family and friends. What started as a hobby became a passion and then turned into a successful portrait business going on for 10 years!
I’m a mommy of THREE fun-loving children, Jensen (9), Penelope (7), and Ledger (4) whom you will see frequently on my blog or Facebook page, and a wife to my high school sweetheart, Andy. I am known for my use of natural light to create dreamy sun-drenched images and my ability to make timeless works of art of your newborn baby. I have a passion for soft, muted colors, lace, texture, and all things vintage.
Here are a few random, *yet important* details about me:
–I am a former Procurement Specialist (corporate America), turned Algebra teacher, turned Professional Photographer. I’ve done a little bit of everything and I can say with complete confidence, THIS is what I was meant to do
–I’m an animal lover. We have several animals that deserve to be listed individually: a 17-year-old blue heeler named Sydney-Sue (we call her old lady these days), an adopted Lab-Terrier mix named Greta-Lou who is 8, and a brand new blue heeler named Luna who is just over a year old (she’s our pandemic dog and I’m so glad we added her to our family!), and a citrus bearded dragon named Oscar who is just over a year old.
–I can bake/decorate a mean cupcake and have a weakness for eating all kinds of dessert
—I sing and help lead worship for our church, Redeemer Church in Manvel
–I love to exercise and would consider myself a runner. I have completed two marathons, several half marathons, a century bike ride, and a Half Ironman race. These days I just run for fun and to stay in shape.
Meet Stacy, Taryn’s studio assistant!
Stacy is a woman with many hats. At newborn sessions, she works with Taryn on every newborn session to ensure each baby is always safe, comfortable, and snuggled. She also gets the always fun job of getting to show you your finished photos at the viewing appointments. She is an expert and designing beautiful wall displays for your home and heirloom albums! Lastly, Stacy is helping with content creation through social media and blog posts. She loves being able to tell the stories behind your photos so you can get to know the Taryn Melgoza team in a whole new way! Here are a few fun facts about Stacy:
—She’s a mom of two kids and is always running them from one activity to another, whether it be baseball, cheerleading, or Girl Scouts where Stacy is a troop leader.
—Stacy is actively involved at her church and leads a small group bible study. Her faith in God is super important to her and she loves that she gets to share that with others.
—This woman is project-driven. Whether it’s decorating, crafting, or creating a spreadsheet, Stacy is all about it.
—As a lover of nature, Stacy is always outdoors. She loves hiking, biking, and camping and is always finding new places to visit and explore. and works with Taryn on every newborn session to ensure each baby is always safe, comfortable, and snuggled. You will also get to meet her at your viewing and ordering appointments as she assists you in choosing your digital and print orders. She is an expert and designing beautiful wall displays for your home and heirloom albums!
